IPL Skin Rejuvenation

The Cutera Limelight facial uses Non-invasive Intense Pulsed Light energy (IPL) which is delivered into the the skin. For the treatment of pigmentation, the laser break downs the pigment into smaller particles, before rising up to the surface of the skin to flake away as part of the body’s natural healing process. The target chromophore for vascular treatments is haemoglobin (blood). The IPL light penetrates the vascular target vessel, the energy heats up and coagulates the blood inside the vessel altering the lining of the vessel which collapses and seal.

The Cutera IPL limelight facial treats a variety of skin concerns. LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. This treatment will give you a much more even skin complexion and tone and also boost your skin's collagen.

When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation.

The procedure usually takes 30mins to complete.

Typically a course of 1-3 is recommended. However this may vary depending on your treatment plan.

Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours, but possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness.

Avoid sun exposure and use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen of SPF30+ to prevent furthur sun damage. Avoid heat such as hot baths and saunas for 1- 2 days. Avoid skin irritants for few days after treatment e.g retinol.

Yes, once your practitioner has deemed you are the right candidate for IPL you will be required by UK law to have a patch test. This is a few shots of the device in the area to be treated. You will then need to wait 24-48 hours to have the full procedure.
